Casino Hold'em Rules

Casino Hold'em breaks from ordinary poker by giving the player a single critical fold-or-call choice after three community cards, followed by another two to finish the board. The dealer must make a pair of fours or better to qualify, and the ante is paid on a pay table based on the strength of the player's best five-card hand from their two hole cards and the five community cards.

How the Deal Works

Casino Hold'em begins with each player making an Ante wager.

The dealer gives the player and himself each two hole cards, face down. Three community cards are dealt face up in the middle. Now the player sees their own two cards and the flop, and the choices open to them are limited:

  • If the player elects to fold, the Ante is taken and the round ends
  • If the player calls, a second bet is required, equal to twice the Ante.

The game’s core loop — make an ante, add a call or go home — is established by the flop alone.

What Happens After the Turn and River

A player who calls now has the ante plus a call of twice the ante in play.

The dealer completes the board with a turn and river, for five shared cards in play. The best five-card poker hand is made from each player's two cards and the five community cards.

  • There is no further betting after the call.

Dealer Qualification

The player and dealer go head-to-head to see whose formed hand (from each player's two and the five community) is best.

The dealer must qualify by making at least a pair of fours to open competition.

If the dealer fails to meet the qualification, the Ante is paid according to the ante pay table, and the Call bet is returned.

Payoffs and Pushes

If the dealer qualifies, payoffs are based on the comparison of player's and dealer's hands.

  • If the player beats the dealer, the Ante pays according to the ante pay table and the Call bet pays 1 to 1.
  • If the player ties the dealer, both Ante and Call bets push.
  • If the dealer's hand is better, both bets lose.

Ante Pay Table

The ante is paid on a pay table based on the poker ranking of the player's five-card hand. A common ante pay table pays:

  • 100 to 1 for a royal flush
  • 20 to 1 for a straight flush
  • 10 to 1 for four of a kind
  • 3 to 1 for a full house
  • 2 to 1 for a flush
  • 1 to 1 for a straight or lower

Side Bets

Many versions add an optional AA side bet, which wins if the player's first five cards, the two hole cards and the flop, make a pair of aces or better.

It All Comes Down to the Dealer Qualification Threshold

The dealer qualification rule shapes the whole game: when the dealer misses a pair of fours, the call bet comes back and only the ante is paid, so a strong hand earns less than it would against a qualifying dealer.
